Organ | Plasy
The organ in the Church of the Assumption of Virgin Mary at the Cistercian monastery in Plasy are among the most important and best preserved authentic instruments of Early Baroque organmaking in Central Europe.
Traditional accounts attributed the instrument completed in 1688 to the Loket organmaker Abraham Starck (1659 – 1709). However, recent organological research of Tomáš Horák led to a different conclusion. Based on the analysis of archives and a comparatory study of construction elements, it identified the Prague-based organbuilder Hans Heinrich Mundt (1632 – 1691) as the maker of the organ at Plasy. In 2004–2006, the organ underwent complex restoration by organmaker Vladimír Šlajch.
